Dr. Sophie Vallely graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2023. She is excited to begin her veterinary career with the Old Dominion Animal Hospital Crozet team. She originates from Connecticut and in 2007 headed west to attend the University of Denver. She graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor’s in Anthropology and Public Relations, and a minor in Art. After college, Dr. Vallely spent 8 years in Wyoming exploring a wide variety of opportunities, including public relations, working on a dude ranch, ski bumming in Jackson Hole, WY, and starting her own food business through a local farmer’s market. It wasn’t until she found her way to a wonderful small animal veterinary clinic in Sheridan, WY that she found her calling. It was here that her love and interest in veterinary medicine flourished, and she decided to go back to college and ultimately apply for veterinary school.
As a new graduate, Dr. Vallely has many special interests she’s excited to explore. These include feline medicine, surgery, dentistry, internal medicine, radiology/ultrasonography, and veterinary business management and leadership. She is also a certified Fear Free Professional and cannot wait to implement those strategies as a clinician. Dr. Vallely’s love of animals stretches outside of her profession as she shares two black cats (Goose and Wilson) and a heeler mix (Madi) with her boyfriend. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, various outdoor activities, cooking, putting silly hats on her cats while they plot their revenge, and spending time with her family. In fact, her family is what brings her to Charlottesville! Dr. Vallely cannot wait to meet you all and take care of your family!
